For some reason this guy/gal keeps coming back to the pond and visiting.. First time in 3 years he/she has been around this pond that i come to often..
This shot is, as is.. Any C&C to help with it would be appreciated..

All I would say is putting the subject farther back, and having some space in front of it could've been a better composition.

Pretty darn good Heron shot. 1/640 @ ISO 100 with the Sony, you could probably boost that shutter speed a little with ISO 200. That would stop any movement at all. Heron's tend to bob their head forward fairly fast when the walk, so a higher shutter speed would avoid that movement. Nice details and looking good. Raj is right as well, a little more to the left of the frame would look better. I tend to crop mine tight in the frame, but some don't like that, so its just a balance thing.

All the best.

Danny.

Stepping back and looking at it with this in mind, you are right, it woul look much better back some and with more room in fron of the subject.. Thank you for pointing that out, as i was focused mainly on detail and not framing when i took this shot..

Thank you Danny... I am still learning, and this type of C&C is perfect.. I was focused mainly on the body to grab the shot, of all the shots i took that day of him/her, it was moving and hard to get clear head shots.. Next chance i get, i will try the mentioned ISO bump up, and be watchful of my framing..
