i'm very new to photography, starting out with a nikon d3100, 18-55mm afs dx vr and planning to add a new lens, filter, and flash soon.

Hi! Welcome! I like the third one best, you did the best with your composition here. The first one I would have liked better if you had put the flowers in front in focus instead of the back ones. Keep shooting, and I am sure you will get tons of great advice on here from people much more experienced than me!

I like #1 . If the tall stem had it's flower/end within the composition of the shot too, it would be even better. #2 the background is too blown for me. I like the sky in #3.

#3: you exposed the shot to show the beautiful sky. That will render the ground subjects very dark. So starker forms are needed on the ground. See how the tree shapes give more visual impact than the houses. The silhouette of a person's body, a church spire..things like that work well against a sky in light like this.
