I like the second shot, it works compositionally for me and the high contrast holds an 'agony and ecstasy' feel as well.

Its good your experimenting more with lighting so kudos on that, but one thing that always bothers me about your work is the majority of them are not very sharp or not completely in focus. They always look a bit too soft.
