Not a good day to be outside today but the rain more or less stopped for the game so it was still more fun than working

Thanks, the lens is an old Tamron 300 f/2.8 and it has more ca than Lightroom can remove but i'm just shooting for fun so it's good enough for me

I recorded the game and got home by 4 PM so I was able to watch the entire game without a single commercial.

Great action shots Bill. The first shot, that's top action and seeing the expressions on the faces is bang on. All great shots, the last one with that DOF isolation and the look on the face is magic. Love that perspective Bill.

Great moments! Consider the background when you choose where you place yourself (I am guilty of not doing this at times, it's a bad habit), as to avoid distracting lines and bright colors. I know the clone stamp is a no-no for photojournalism, but if you are shooting for fun I would clone out the blue pants and bright orange blob in #3.

You should try sitting behind the net off to one side or the other, it's one of my favorite spots to get intense faces / poses, in addition to scores.

Have you ever picked up a lacrosse ball tevo ? You couldn't pay me enough to sit behind that net, that ball is hard as a rock and goes 90 MPH LOL

I really know so little about the game it is hard for me to anticipate where the action is going. It is really a challenge to shoot.

I actually did consider removing the orange blob, it is in more than one shot

There is another game Friday, I'll be shooting with my new Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 Sport lens.

2014 High School Lacrosse - C6Bill

I've picked one up to the leg, torso, etcetera

For lax, there is a lot of off the ball action among the defenders which can make for nice photos. I sit on the 20 or 30 yd line and wait for the ball to move towards me, you can get shots of players battling for the ball, cradling, etc. To get good shots of players scoring, at the very least stay behind the endzone at either corner and hope someone shoots from the opposite side. Depending on the time (daylight vs stadium lights) the lighting can be bad so shoot raw or overexpose by a bit to preserve face details. If youre lucky youll see a jump catch in time and grab him in the air against a clean background; those look cool as well.
