This was taken with a crappy little fujifilm pocket cam. This is Holocaust Survivor Eva Mozes Kor telling her story on how she survived the Holocaust

From technical standards, I assume it's not that great, but is it good at showcasing what the title says she's doing?

I'm trying to get an understanding of the storytelling aspect that a few other users were explaining to me by posting pictures to see which ones got it right and which ones didn't.

It's a learning experience.

I'll have a "real" cam in no time.

Yep. When you pay the tuition, the camera and kit that comes with it is apart of that tuition, and the camera is yours forever. It's a $700 Nikon DSLR.

The original picture I posted though I was hoping was a good example of the picture showing what is supposed to be occurring. She's supposed to be speaking to an audience, so I figured her hand gestures, as well as a nice shot of the crowd responding to her would be a good example?

Dude.. I would really check out that schools standing.. and make sure it is a good one! Most of the ones that include a $700 camera, really rape you on tuition... and often don't teach you enough to get a job afterwards.. much less go out on your own! May I ask what you are paying in tuition?

An associates Degree in Photography is about $46,000, and they teach you everything from art, post production, actual photography, and how to market yourself to make money after you graduate. It's a little over two years and they work with you on the payments and personally help you find work in your field during your attendance at the school, and after you graduate.

Not really.. but 46k for an associates? That seem pretty high! Average cost of an associates degree at a community college is around $10k... and some of the online schools (like Kaplan) are up to $30k. $46k seems really outrageous! You probably financed it through them too, didn't you? They make extra money on that too.... high interest rate usually....

I would really check around ... OUCH! You can get a bachelors for that at some schools in a good field like nursing.......

I tried the community college thing. They are horrible as it relates to taking care of their students, and they try anything they can to bump you out. The instructors are careless and take pride in failing their students, the advising is terrible, and the classes are pointless and all over the place, to where you don't feel like you're following that field of study that you're wanting to.

I have a horrible attention span, so if I'm majoring in something, I want to be focused on that, and they do at the Art Institute. They told me that the reason they charge those high tuition is because of all the opportunity that's afforded. The employment opportunities, state of the art equipment, internships, job placement, excellent quality instructors who won't stop until you have understood what you're learning about, who are there for you whenever you need, etc.

I didn't get any of that from the community college I attended. I could never reach my instructors, and half of them didn't care. Plus, all the programs available weren't things I wanted to do. In fact, since you mention nursing, that's all they focused on.

I either wanted to do photography or Videography, since I worked with TV Production in high school. With my program at the AI, I'm going to be able to work on both.

The Admissions director told me that I have the eye in most cases, and as long as I have the eye, my technical skills can be fine tuned to where I will have the skill to add to the eye. She said the goal of that school isn't for you too leave with a degree, its for you to leave successful. That's their mission.

Dahrol.. that is what they ALL say.. part of the sales pitch. Of course they are going to tell you "you have the eye".. bet they tell every student that. For $46,000.00 plus interest.. they will tell you anything!

Just trying to help.. not trying to be a downer! Just I have been around a few more years than you have, and have see this before! I am going to start a thread on this (with your permission) and get other opinions!

Those reviews aren't for my program. I want to know what those who have taken photography there think.

Also, factors to think about are how much the students applied themselves, what they chose to do with their degree, and if they even chose to finish.
