Beautiful shot and behaviour. Sharp and clear shots with wonderful colours details. Great timing to catch the catch and also to get those wings up. Both shots are superb IMO. Excellent work with the 400 and 2x, impressive.

Great work Excellent focus and timing. Danny mentioned 2x? How do you find the teleconverter to use? I am looking at the 1.7x to give my 300 a little more reach.

I use the 2x extensively with the 400 2.8. But only the TC-E III... earlier versions were not nearly as good. Or maybe it's just this particular combination... My D800 doesn't like it at all. I also have the 1.4 and the 1.7 but I don't use them nearly as often.
I will say that 800mm can be hard to work with for BIF and similar due to the narrow FOV. (I sometimes use a red dot sight to help)
