Houston Downtown

I do have a problem setting the WB, that is something that I need to master....

I usually put it on auto...

I hate when pics come out to red....

I have a Olympia E-500.....Any tips on setting WB

This is the same downtown picture...But I did a different edit...I see when you say I lost building integrity on that first pic..I think I darken it to much..but I like the B&W one better

I know what you mean by hating pix that come out red.
The easiest way to fix the WB issue is to shoot in RAW and fix it later in photo shop.
Setting WB at night is really hard.
I have to go to class right now, but when I come back ill see if I can't write you a little tutorial on it.

Also, that pic above is much better.

Thanks in advance for your help.....I greatly appreciate that

I have PS 6, can I still use that version to edit RAW pics?

I don't know if PS 6 can edit RAWs so maybe someone else can chime in.

As for setting the white balance on location...
I will explain it in terms of my Nikon D50, so things might have different names and probably is set differently on your camera but the concept will be the same.

When setting your WB set it to "PRE" (this is the custom setting)
hold down the WB button for about 3 - 5 seconds.
then take a picture of something white or light gray. Make sure you use the same settings that you want to take your picture at.
The camera should tell you "good" or "no good"
if its good try taking the picture and see if it has good colors
if "no good" you need to try and set the balance again,

Doing this at night is hard in my opinion, so I will set the WB to auto and adjust it later in photo shop.

Just check your owners manual, and there should be instruction on setting your customer WB.

Good luck and I look froward to seeing some more of your work!

That is great info man....I'm going to try that tonight....Thanks for your help and advise!!
