How do I get photos off my Apple iPhone?

I just upgraded my G5 mac to the latest Leopard software and am leery about syncing my iPhone with my computer because I'm afraid I'll lose data. However, I really need to get the photos off the phone and don't want to email them to myself, one by one.
Any advise?

Which iPhone. if the phone is new enough you will not be able to sync the full phone with the computer as it is not an intel machine and cannot run newer versions of the OS.

But even if you cannot sync the full phone you should still be able to get the photos off by simply connecting the phone opening iphoto and clicking import.

My wife has an iPhone and we have a PC. I was able to connect her iPhone to our PC via USB cable at which point the iPhone showed up as a portable hard drive. I then just dragged and dropped photos from the phone to the PC hard drive.

We also own this which connects the iPhone to an IPad, which can also be attached to a computer like a portable hard drive.

According to your PC, your iPhone is an external HDD when connected. Do not go through ITunes, instead go through "My Computer" and look for the device. In the device look for a folder DCIM, and your photo/videos should be in there. Worse case, use Icloud, good luck.
