How do I know a good game cam?

Basically, what should one know when buying a trail camera? I;m just guessing, but I think that maybe its brand or features... That's all very nice and I've already read it all in here. I would like to ask for some real, experienced views on this.

Bear in mind that I don't know anything about these things (I mean obviously I know how to click a digital camera ), so I need everything I can find, from tips how to shoot those great pics (like that gator I just saw on this forum! ) to information about the brands and models of trail cams. So, every info is most welcome.
