How do you create borders?

One of the tips or techniques I've learnt in my short time here is the use of borders.

I think it really focuses your attention on the image.

So far I've use Flickr and FastStone Image Viewer to create borders.

I have Adobe Photoshop 5 Limited Edition and haven't quite got the hang of creating borders with it, sigh.... Any help with that?

I am interested to hear what You are using to create borders and/or opinions on size and color....

I created an action in photoshop that adds a border to pictures by increasing the canvas size and setting the colour to black.

Ohh, now that's just too easy

Click on "Image" and then on "Canvas size".

On the pop up box increase both sizes by .25 inches.... or whatever.

Done.
