How do you get this sky with this subject exposure?

Off camera flash on both sides of the subject. Or a composite. Frankly, this doesn't appear to be very well done IMO. But those are the two ways you can do it.

Also, you should link to a photo that's not yours. Not upload it to the forum. It's against forum policy to post images that you do not own the copyright to.

Using flash would allow them to expose for both. It's a balancing act, but it can be done fairly easily. You can see on the sides of the baseballer's face that there are some harsh highlights that are clearly from flash. It's not a single direction of light like there would be if he was lit from the sun, and the exposure doesn't really equal out to being an "ambient" exposure.

The photo you posted in your last post did not show up as a link either. I would expect a moderator to edit it and delete the photo altogether...

You expose for the sky then you set up some off camera flashes to expose the person properly.
