How do you matte a picture?

I was just wondering where everyone buys thier matting supplies and how much it costs them?

I guess I pretty much need a matte *precut if possible* for an 8X10, backboard, and acid free bag. All the sites I look at these things are way over priced, and I would probably loose money if I sold the prints for what I plan due to the expense.
