How do you prepare for shooting in the heat?

Drink....Pee.....Repeat. If you miss any of those steps you are screwed.

Yeah - if you haven't peed all day, you're dehydrated. If your piss is dark, you're dehydrated. If you stop sweating, you're pretty ****ed.
 
Consider adding electrolytes to your water as well. You can pick up electrolyte tablets from most of your typical sporting good stores. I use them in my hydration packs when mountain bike riding and when I worked in he West Texas oilfield.
 
Kool-aid + salt = Gatorade.
