How does Kevin Abosch light?

Does anyone know how Kevin Abosch lights his portraits? On his website http://www.kevinabosch.com there is a photo of Johnny Depp and I'm wondering if he uses something like an octabox or some other soft box. The shadows are good but there is a general softness. Same for the photo of Scarlett Johanssen. A friend said he thought many of his portraits were shot in a daylight studio with a silk, but I didn't think so.

From those tiny pics, its hard to tell, and his site was having all kinds of HTTP errors when I just tried looking at it... but from the little I see, it was nothing uber-complex.

Large diffused light source from above camera left and either a secondary light or reflector on camera right. Whether it was daylight or softbox doesn't really matter, the results are similar.

Pretty basic.
