I went to my LPS today to check out the Canon Fisheye I've been wanting to buy, but they were out. Well I asked the guy what it would run and he said it'll cost $700 before tax.. WHAT?! From what I heard most people are paying $600 the most.. Please tell me it's not that expensive?

Have you tried one of those comparison shopping sites? In the UK Kelkoo is quite popular: http://shopping.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/ss_canon_fisheye.html but I don't know if it does the US.

Perhaps if you gave the exact model number you're after then people can help further?

exactly what are you calling a fisheye? A true fisheye lens usually runs in the thousands of dollars. If you are talking about anything over 14mm or so that is not a fisheye.
