How much would this have costed?

I have an old Nikkor 50mm lens, 1.2F. A friend of mine said it would cost a bomb considering that he paid $400 for a 1.4f.

Go to B&H Photo to check out the prices there is difference. You generally pay more for a faster lens. The link is below for Nikon lenses.
