I would like know how they edit these photos. Any clues or pointers will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

In this baby photo, I only know the depth of field adjustment part but no idea on how they get that color.

In this photo, color composition is really nice. I'd like to learn how they did it.

Sorry about that. I just change the images to links. (thought if I put links, people might think I am a spammer.) :)

The image looks like it is reduced in saturation (maybe in specific colour range) and the original image was duplicated on a separate layer in photoshop, with the following being the likely process:
- apply gaussian blur to new layer
- mask new layer
- get paint brush
- change edge to a very soft edge
- remove the mask on the parts you don't want to apply the blur to.

The result does not read as DOF as it is the same amount of blur across the image (there is no depth to it).

#1 and #2 are the same image with different post processing.

There are actions (recorded editing steps Photoshop can perform automatically) people can buy that will do this if they don't want to learn how to do it themselves.

The photo of the couple was done more in the camera than by editing by using strong ambient side light from camera left (main light) and supplimental strobed light was used from camera right as a second light.

Well, I don't have a Photoshop yet. (budget ran out after upgrading T1i to MarkII 5D. ) Just using Gimp and Paintshop X3 for now.

I have been looking for similar recorded editing scripts for gimp and paintshop but I can't any. :(

Don't waste your time.

Neither of those applications, nor Photoshop Elements, have the ability to run actions.
