Client want's an 8x12 gallery wrap of this image, BUT... she wants it to match scale-wise the one I took of her husband (these were NOT shot with this in mind, hence the issue). In order to get them approximately the same size on the wrap, I need to add some background to the image. I've expanded the image to the correct size as seen below, and now the question: What would be the best tool/method to "expand" the background to fill in the grey bordered area? I know there are a number of ways of doing it, but I figure this would be a good learning exercise for me (with a bit of help from you out there in Internetville of course). So....

If you have Photoshop... Make the selection, -Edit -Fill -Content Aware... It may produce results that you could further refine...

here is what you can do. In photoshop if you have it start with sides first and make a rectangular selection box around on the side of the image and copy and paste. Then expand it with the outwards then flatten. Do the same with the other side and then top and bottom. results will like this

Very simple and since its a wrap you really don't need to worry about the bottom being stretched out longer since the image you see in from will be the actual image.
