How to fix these two photos?

Hi,
Recently I went to a very nice town and took many photos. However on this day I had problems with opening the shutter of my camera and because of this two of my photos didn't come out as intended. The first one should be easy to fix (I want to fix the black part in the corner) but the second may not be fixable (because of this shine in the bottom of the photo).
Please have a look! And if you could recommend some software to me to resolve the problem that would be great!

Not much help for the second (some serious flare), but the first was a simple fix.

Adobe Photoshop tends to be the software of choice for major photo editing though other products are available.

The first one should be pretty easy to clone out using either the clone tool or the patch tool. The second one is going to require a lot more time but it initially looks as if could be fixed to some degree with a lot of cloning with small brushes (possibly even pixel by pixel) but would be majorly labour intensive and you may end up with a result that is only good at small sizes. The question would be is it that valuable to you to spend that much time on it? If it's got no sentimental value I'd just scrap it personally.
