How to mount SLR in a car?

Im going on a road trip and would like to mount my D40 in the car on the passenger side so i can use a remote trigger to take some pics

I was think somekind of suction mount on the windscreen? as then i could also use it outside of the car?

any help is appreciated

I've seen the novoflex used at our local autox club a while back. Generally used with smaller P&S or compact camcorders. Not sure how they hold up for longer runs or heavier cameras.

I've jammed my tripod in various cracks and crannies in my car to hold it steady and used a remote to trigger the shutter.

Made some nice reverse light streaks.
