how to tranfer pictures from D50 to external hard drive

hello everybody. This is my first time to the forum so here we go.
I have a D50 and I bought an external HD, from LACIE.
How can I transfer pictures from the camera to the HD withouth using a computer?
I bought a USB storage bridge to go with the transfer but I only works with pen drives not with hard drives.
Should a connect the camera to the HD with a micro USB in both ends?

The bridge device should work with a UBS card reader? The one I lhave seen would do that.
