There are so many camera bag designs how would you design a camera bag or add/alter the design of your existing bag and why

Who knows camera bag makers may pick up on the ideas.

I will start
I am disabled with bad knees so I find a back pack best I use the Tamrac range if I could add to the design of my current bag
Design I would have Kevlar lined panels and straps to stop knife cuts... have heard of peeps cutting open bags
Some sort of loop that I can put a lock in to stop zips from being opened,
Slip pockets inside to slide packs of silica gel into
A bright waterproof cover to over the whole bag. I currently use a blight green cycling back pack cover

I have been on a quest for the perfect camera bag (as, I guess, is everyone else). I have an old Lowpro Adventura 170, that is ugly has hell, but is as close as I can get so far. I have a Vanguard Havana 33 that I use when I need to take my laptop and have a little more room. What I am looking for is any color but black (well, not pink, but you get the idea). A detachable strap so I can change to my heavy security strap when needed (the Lowpro is detachable, the Vanguard is not). A functional exterior water bottle holder like on the Lowpro.

Similar to O.K...

I would have a form of reinforcement, but with mine, I have a tendency to carry a montage of diff. camera setups.
Small, med. and LF systems and something that would be expandable and double for remote hiking in and shots in unusual places.

I personally am a big fan of leather myself, but also realize weight. Something with style but not flashy.

I have a light weight nylon type backpack and like to use a wrap over the camera & lens. Sometimes I just use the wrap and wear the camera as usual. Easy to get the wrap off quickly. I sold my camera backpack because I found it inconvenient with it holding not enough or too much gear. I have a shoulder bag I use sometimes, but it won't fit my camera and longest lens.

Interesting how out needs is reflected in the design process

I would design a similar bag.
My bag would be completely empty while I carry it then when I open it it would be choke full of everything I need at that moment!!!
As a bonus, the bag could sense exactly what would impress the h*ll outa anybody that wanted to know what was in it. Some would only see a Kodak Brownie, yet others might see that Hasselblad that went to the moon!!! LoL

I would design a camera bag not to look like a camera bag..........

Hi Jeff
I bought one the was designed not to look anything like a camera bag or back pack in my case
However such was the hype and advertising that I kept on having people come up to me and say they had seen the adverts
Er kind of defeated the whole idea...... my Mrs uses the back pack as our house first aid kit.

Trying to design “the” perfect camera bag is like using a butterfly net to capture fog. Each person and each use has its own design requirements. For example, my one camera one lens street bag is quite different from my Africa Safari backpack but I do need both at times.

Caveat, My name is James, I am a recovering camera bagaholic and currently need my eight bags to contain my gear from place to place. Not to mention the six equipment cases to pack lighting gear.

I know what you mean about different bags, this is why I went with Tamrac
It’s a modular system that so happens to be compatible with the armed forces tactical vest and pouch system
I have the basic back pack or vest and add the pouches as required

Sparky... neat but don’t you worry about ink getting on the lens lol
