Hoya polarizer question

Is the metal ring on the interior of the filter soldered together, or is it slightly detached?

You have to twist that ring to change the effect of the polarizer, so no it's not soldered.

I guess my wording was a bit off, I'm not that much of a noob!

I mean, litterally, there is a metal ring in the interior of the filter, are the two ends soldered, or are they allowed to freely come apart if pulled apart? I ask this because mine came with the interior metal ring popped out, so I sent it back to B&H (which, BTW, were great. i explained to them i'm going to spain next week so they gave me free 2 day shipping on the new item).

I just checked my hoya polarizer and the ring and the filter aren't soldered but it would take quite a lot of time and force to separate them. Something might have been wrong with yours but i'm sure they'll deal with it.
