Well I've been waiting for a bright enough day to really break out the higher shutter speeds, and I finally got a shot of a hummer with its wings frozen! For whatever reason, there weren't many in the usual area, but I'll head back another day to get a better composed shot (not a fan of this one no matter how I cropped it). As it is, this one is a bit of a crop, which I like to avoid if possible. It was shot at ISO1600, f/5.6, and 1/4000 on the 55-250. It'll have to do until I can head out for another and set up on a flower with the tripod and a remote, until then I hope you enjoy it ;)

To my mind, this one's quite nicely composed, I must say. And well focused and all in all ... simply pretty.
To bad we don't even have any hummingbirds where I live. I'd love to try my hands on a photo like this, alas - no "humm-dingers" here.
