This guy stopped by to snag what he (?) could from what the birds and squirrels left behind :)

poor guy, they have no natural defense against the cold.

Nice pictures Cortian.

No wonder its hair is standing on end.

Cool pictures. Cold weather.

Oh? I wonder where he's been staying, then? Maybe under the next-door-neighbour's deck, next to the house, or under their shed?

Now that you mention it: I don't recall ever seeing one around here in wintertime before.

Thanks, PJcam!

I see them every once in a while in my backyard. Not sure if I ever saw them in winter though. I know a lot of people think they are ugly but I got a soft spot for these little guys.

My wife thinks they're adorable, too.

Now that I know this guy may be in trouble, perhaps I'll look into what I can do for him. My wife said he was hobbling.

yeah they often get frost bite on their feet -- look it would be like us walking in the snow bare foot.

Very nice.

Nice photos... I love opossums. I started feeding one a while back... she seemed to like cat food. I named her Flower. Then one day she stopped coming. Good memory though.

My wife thinks they're adorable. I'm developing a fondness for them, too.

Re: Cat food for opossums: Don't do that. Turns out it's nutritionally very bad for them.

Then one day she stopped coming. Good memory though.
Apparently they have only about a two year lifespan, on average, in the wild.
