Just a few close up shots I'd like c&c'd :greenpbl:

#1 - Taken at a friends house, it's a typewriter. He had a lamp sitting on his desk and the ambient lighting seemed perfect...

#2 - Taken at my house, very colorful spoon. I couldn't find a good spot for the lamp that didn't add that bit of reflection. How do I get around this?

Can I get a little love? :/

another bonus shot

Technically good shots, but for me they are boring. What am I supposed to feel, looking at a typewriter keyboard or at a colored spoon that looks like a bowl? They look like stock images.

By diffusing the light. Interpose something such as translucent plastic ("Tupperware") or other material that will soften the light between the source and the subject.

Awesome :O I would have never thought of doing that! That will definitely come in handy

Like tired iron said, use something to diffuse the light (even a sheet of printer paper over the lighting source could work). I also agree that i do not get much from the first two images. They are stock photo's. Technically, they are good, emotionally, they do nothing for me.

The video at the end will work for any flash source.

What are they missing "emotionally"?

Thanks for the link! And yeah I see what you mean...

About your bonus shot: you've got hairy arms  Except for at the lower part... why is that, I'm wondering.......

Not my arms :) Friend of mine. And I've never really noticed that it cuts off before his wrists. Probably a by-product of his fire-shooting super powers if I had to take a guess.
