Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Sunday I met up with some old mates who were winch launching paragliders, terrible light, mid afternoon hard sun and quite hazy, cant do much about that. the bonus here is it has motivated me to get back into the air and for the photography side of things, hook up with another pilot who has a tandem powered paraglider so I can get the aerial landscape shots I am after, they can fly "slow" and as low or high as we like with few air space restrictions, almost perfect.

1. Pilot starts his tow, when the light breeze was around these guys got winched to about 1800ft, no breeze only about 1000ft.

2. This shot makes me laugh everytime I come across it, he is an unusal character, known him for years, lets just say he is a bit odd and this shot accidentally on purpose caught a moment between him and his daughter.

3. Pilot almost on the ground again, the guy was just fizzing after performing a particular acro manouver for the first time perfectly. Yes that is a pink shed behind, this is the only airstrip in this valley full of dairy farms, so I would imagine this shed would stand out like dogs ********.

4. Same pilot from "above", I dont see the smaller details when taking the shot usually, thumbs up I think I did see this time, but when the pilots were launching they were more often than not looking at the photographer (me), awesome, have big gear, get noticed, get eye contact!!

5. Daughter from 1st shot moments after landing after coming out of a high G spiral dive as a tandem passenger. Shame about the digger in the BG.

6. Just a scene setting shot?

7. Because I was on the ground and they were up in a featureless sky I knew it was going to be difficult to convey to a viewer what they were doing at the time of any given shot, no reference for the viewer. This shot picked for body position of the passenger.

8. I tried where I could to frame a scene.

Monday it was off to a farm about an hour away to ride some bikes and
have some terrestrial fun.

9. First shot I have posted of myself here, I like to be behind the camera, the wife took this after about 30 seconds of instruction from me, she did well considering she had never used a dslr before and only had 10 frames of memory left.

Me taking my youngest for a ride.

10. My bro-inlaw getting a little bit of air, he was stoked with the images, I got a txt from him saying dude you made me look like I was 3m high instead of the 30cm, lol. Attempt at panning at 18mm to imply motion.

11. Another angle, tree behind irks me a little here, but the attitude of the bike is better.

12. The quad bike from hell, bald tyres, no kick start, no oil or plug change in 15 years and still runs!!! Used selective desaturation to avoid the very very bright grass.

12. 3 shot handheld HDR, both days I was shooting in the harshest light, so this was a test to see if I could make it look as I remember it, not so much for composition.

Thanks for looking, feel free to C&C on any individual shots. Most have been processed to be as I remember, light and colour wise.

Really nice set, I'm not going to break it down, as you've pretty much covered anything I could add, as with LCARS, wanted to say I enjoyed the set, lots of colour and smiles :D

Rob, you always have really great sets. I enjoyed them all.

Thanks for the feedback guys, always good to get confirmation from my peers.

If anyone is interested in seeing the full set of paragliding from above, let me know if you think any of the images are not worthy, a couple of links. Couple of HDR's in there I am not so sure about.

Paragliding, Galatea 24-10-10

Cheers
Rob

Nice shots as usual rob. I particularly like the motorbike shots, also #2 and the 'thumbs up' one.
