looking back over this, did you lighten the people in post? I notice a black rim outline around them, which looks pretty bad, and looks like you went the exact wrong way in post. Silhouettes aren't about detail. If you want detail, then you need to lighten them with flash, not in post.

Hmmm, I don't think so. I did use a pretty cheap lens on this (it's not bad in the right conditions, but that day I learned was not it!) so maybe that has something to do with it?

As hard as it is to have something you love ripped apart, it's worth it. I do like that edit a lot.

Not true. My avatar is CRAZY attractive, and I get no love.

As hard as it is to have something you love ripped apart, it's worth it. I do like that edit a lot.

Ha, at work we now have mandatory critique sessions of 1 hour for every 20 hours we shoot. So I get about 2 hours per week of being told why I'm such a cruddy photographer, but it truly helps.

I think that is a photo she will find extremely unflattering. Girls are funny that way. Despite the fact that she's a skinny little flat bellied girl, her posture emphasizes her "pooch" and her tummy. I think that's what looks "weird" -- that she is obviously not what she looks like in this department.

Yeah, the photo makes it look like she is either in the early stages of pregnancy or has a disproportionately large FUPA for her otherwise petite body.

#1 This image is not working. There is a halo around both of their faces and it looks really pixelated. The branch is very distracting and not adding anything to the scene.
#2 I actually like the pose. It is flirty, but I do agree if she doesn't want her tummy to look big then you might want to go in and tweak that a bit. Your composition is good. PP could use a little pop.
