I got this shot last weekend while my wife and I were at Cherokee, NC in the Great Smoky Mountains. The park has been reintroducing elk into the park for several years now and they are doing very well. We visit the Cherokee reservation several times a year hoping to see them. I will post more photos later.

We were there a couple years ago, visiting some friends camping off Big Cove Rd. Got stuck in a traffic jam, just past the school. There was a herd moving through. Cars were parked every where watching them. People even getting out of their cars and walking within a few feet of them. The Elk didn't seem to be concerned, in the least. I kept waiting for somebody to get hurt big time. Police finally came by and ran people and animals off.
