I took some pics of some cheetahs yesterday and unfortunately, I could not help but get their enclosure fence in the shot. I tried to focus out the fence but I still have some haze.

Here is an example:

Is there a good technique for getting rid of this or at least minimizing it?

About the only thing you can try is to up the contrast of the image in post processing. Sometimes it helps reduce the "fog" from the out of focus fencing you caught.

+1 - boost the contrast and use the layer mask feature so that you're only boosting it over the hazy grey area. Sometimes it will work well; sometimes you have to be a little more complicated (varying the opacity of the brushes so that you vary the contrast change over the area of the greyed zones) and sometimes its just too bad to fix.
