Can you post your exif - it would help us understand more about your photo and how to improve it.

All I see is black. And a little light spot.

Oh. That's an eye, I guess--of a dog, maybe??

I'm not trying to be funny, OR harsh. But the reality is, I cannot make this out at all. Granted, I don't have the best vision, but I think this has taken "low key" a little too far.

What was your intent with this photo? What do YOU think could be improved about it?

Needs more light on the dog. Dog looks a tiny bit blurred, possibly from moving, possibly from camera shake...can't tell too much because I cannot see too much. My suggestion:get more light into the act on the next shoot....flash or window light...table lamp with the camera's WB set low like 2,900 degrees Kelvin.

Visually: a close-up head portrait is almost always better shot with a vertical camera orientation, unless there is something VERY compelling in the 75 to 80% of the other parts of the frame. Horizontal (aka "landscape") framing or a close-up portrait is usually an inelegant, misguided compositional decision.

I have excellent vision. I can barely make out this photo. Needs some light, or maybe a not black background for a black dog.. with a relatively dark eye.
