Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
My entire career, it has been no secret that I've sucked at Nature and Landscape photography. So in attempts at getting better, last night, I decided to go back over some of my old vacation photos and re-edit some I might have overlooked before. These were all taken in various parts of Alaska. (Seward, Matinuska, Homer, and Anchorage) As I said before, I know. I suck. *sad face* but if you have any comments or enjoyed them despite their flaws, feel free to like/comment on them :)

1: Part of the Matinuska Glacier

Well for starters I typically don't want to have people in my nature photography. The subject of nature photos should be the nature putting people in the images usually makes them the subject.

Strong composition is key to a good landscape shot. I would work on that.

The piece of glacier.
Did you eated it?

hahaha as refreshing as it may look, glaciers are full of silt. Wouldnt taste very good at all. And when parts of it melt into the rivers and streams it kills the fish because the silt rises to the top of the river and makes it hard for algie and stuff to grow.

I actually find this funny.. Give me a bird I know what to do. Give me a person and ugh.. Your portfolio is amazing! It's funny how we acquire different skill sets...

Ha! I'm the exact opposite! :D I can’t tell the mountain to move and pose the way I can a model or client. Some say it’s simply because a photographer can only truly be great at one realm and should focus on perfecting that subject. Whatever the case may be, the concept of Nature or Landscape photography has been lost to me. :/

If you consider yourself bad then you have insanely high expectations! These photos are amazing! You do NOT suck at Nature Photography.

With nature photography, it's tough to get those great shots if you're not purposefully planning with the light and environment to previously scouted spot with a vision in mind. When other things (kids, spouse, job or you just might be on a hike) dictate how long you can stay in one spot or the time of day you can get away, you either have to make it work or just get lucky. But that is by no means a good reason to not take the camera when you go for a hike. Most of my favorite shots I never even planed for. I just happened to be there with the right lens attached.

If I go with 2 lenses. I usually leave my telephoto zoom on the body. That way, if I see wildlife I'm good to go. Usually landscapes don't go anywhere and if you're chasing light you can spare a minute swap a lens if you need to.

Nice work though.
