Finally getting around to editing some of my photos from Africa. Don't get your hopes up too high though. I don't know if I've lost my mojo or am just in a photo funk right now. Instead of creating several threads, I'll update here in (maybe) three separate groups...... Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Zanzibar and Accra in Ghana.
Quick backstory..... my partner is an executive accountant of thirty odd accounts (countries) for an NGO that deals with deals in public health for less developed countries, particularly with AIDS research and prevention. This was her first use of a passport and the first time she was responsible for delivering presentations with a sizeable audience. I tagged along for a holiday.
Thus the accommodations.
We arrived in Dar es Salaam in the early evening. After being in transit for ~23 hours with 3 layovers, there were a few priorities to be had. 1) getting the luggage in the room 2) get an adult beverage 3) stretch our legs...... no cameras involved. We stayed in the Double Tree (Hilton maybe?) and the front of the property (surrounding area) looked dismal as we approached. But after getting that adult beverage and walking out the back on a large tiled open deck, the end of it was picturesque. Oyster Bay in front of us, facing westerly, and a long pier out into the water ending at a large thatch roofed platform with a beautiful sunset across the bay water. Later we discovered that they provide a full bar menu and shisha pipes out there. It soon became our nightly haunt.
So I figured I'd get out there the next morning to grab some morning shots in comparison to the beautiful susnset we witnedd the night before. Opps........ tidal waters.
Thanks for looking. Comments appreciated and always welcomed.
