I just came across this thead and thought I'd share a couple shots. The first one is a little overexposed, but It's just a reference for the second shot.

This was taken with a 2880mm Celestron telescope.

I added an eyepiece which increased the focal length to ~6000mm

Cool guys. This got me thinking i just bought a 70-200 2.8 Nikon lens and was wondering if i put a 2xTC (does that work with the d60) would that get me decent pictures? I know that would not be super close but it would be neat to try even if i had to manually focus.

Since it's an f/2.8 AF-S lens, Nikon's 2x AF-S teleconverter should work. You will see a drop in quality, but probably still end up with more magnification after cropping than you would without it.
