The sky has a weird circular pattern??? - TF

I like it, but lacking a point of focus seems to make it lose artistic value. Also, the sky is very artifacted.

Massive halo around the tree, jpeg compression has ruined the sky. What did the HDR tonemapping achieve that a single exposure wouldn't have?
