Im curious... Spot metering

I mostly use Spot metering.
I use Center-weighted on occasion.
I can't remember when I last used use Matrix. Sometime back in 2007 I think.

I don't use AE/AF lock. I have that button set up for focus.

hmm. kind of surprised at some of the comments. i use matrix a lot. i wonder if this has to do with subjects/lighting or just personal preference.

I just wonder how you guys are using spot built into your cameras. Matrix is nothing else but properly (and very fast) executed spot metering.

Yeah, I bet How is more important than how many?

My concern is that beginners seem to imagine Spot metering is some kind of magic, that will solve all the problems. I think the truth is that most don't understand metering very well, and Spot metering even less, and which probably causes greater problems for beginners.

I offer this brief look: Details about Metering Principles . Old timers will say Sure, sure, so what's new? But I'm thinking it will be very new for many beginners.
