Ok, I have my ISO set to 400 in manual. When I take a picture, it automatically (99% of the time) takes the picture with ISO 1600! My ISO is not set to auto, it actually won't let me set to to auto while in manual. I don't know what to do to fix it??!! This just started. I've had my camera for 2 years now, I know how to set my iso!

Also, just starting yesterday, after I take a picture, it takes around 20 seconds to show up on the screen. This also started the same time my iso issue started yesterday.

I'm kinda starting to freak out, I can't figure out what my issue could be. Does anyone have any ideas?????

Is your exposure compensation set to +2?

I don't know what to tell you about the LCD delay.

No, my exposure compensation is set to 0. Ugh, I'm completely freaking out.

Oh, and no, my battery is completely charged.

As far as the waiting for the image to come up, what are you shooting? If I had to guess, I would guess long exposures at night, or low light on a tripod, and you have the NR feature on.

If so, it's completely normal. The NR will take a second image with the shutter closed, and erase the things that appear on both images. The second exposure will be the same duration as the first.

For example, 15 second exposure will yield 15second second exposure (shutter closed) to battle noise, image will not appear for 15 seconds.

I hope this is the case. If not, I don't know what to tell you.

Have you tried to reset the camera to factory settings? Cliche, I know, but worth a shot.

The shot taking time to process could be the result of you activating the long exposure noise reduction feature. You might find that if you reset the camera settings to factory default that the problems you are experiencing go away. Though I'm not sure what custom function might be causing your ISO to go so high by default.

I had some LCD problems on my d40. Not quite like what you're dealing with -- the colors and image would get static-y. I sent it to Nikon and they fixed it. Is your warranty still good?

Ok, I just took a pic of my son, set my iso to 400, metered to 1/100 f 2.8, and it took the picture with iso 1600!! Again, took around 15 seconds to show up on the screen.

No, I am pretty sure it's not under warranty anymore, although I'm about to go check.

I have no clue how to reset with factory settings, although I'm sure I will figure it out.

Check your camera manual for how to reset to factory settings - though if you go into the camera's menus it should be a selectable option from the lists.

OMG! It worked! I just reset to factory settings!!!!! Sorry, I had to come on here to figure that out but I feel sooooo much better! Thank you all!! Awe, you have no idea how much better I feel!

Now I have to get the kids ready for bed. Thank you all again. Hopefully tomorrow I can figure out why it's still taking a few sec to show up on the screen. The first 2 pictures I took after I reset to factory settings showed up fast, but now they're not.

SOOC taken a few minutes ago. Although, it's still taking around 5 seconds to show up on the screen :/

Nice!

Here's a silly question... what kind of SD card are you using? Also... are you shooting in RAW? SLOW SD cards take a long time to write large files to, and RAW images are large....... It taxes your cameras buffer, and may be contributing to the length of time it takes to show up on the screen.

Or maybe not.....

It's a long shot, but a thought none the less........ Try adjusting the image quality to JPEG fine and see how long it takes.

I'm using a high speed card. I have 3 and none of them have ever taken long to show up. Now just all of a sudden they are. I tried all 3 cards, same result :(
