In need of Good general photography book

Can anyone recomend a good begining photography book. I have taken class in high school, didnt learn much so have have been teaching myslef for about 8 eight years. I have a lot figured out but would like a good referance book to questions or basic concepts so that I can get a more complete understanding.

digital or film?

i use a digital camera and i bought a book called The Joy of Digital Photography not sure of the author....but i would suggest going to a book store and browsing photography books to see which one you like the most

I shoot film. Would like to get a digital some day but I am having fun using my grandfathers old cameras.
