In search of some help.

I ordered a flash stand and the Cowboy studio NPT-04 Radio Trigger. I shoot with a Nikon d3100. I intended to order a Vivitar 383 flash, but I have to put a hold on that. For the mean time I have a Canon Speedlite 188a Laying around, would I be able to use this with my current set up until I get a Vivitar. I read that if the flash is under a certain voltage then it shouldn't matter.

You aren't going to mount it on the camera right? I would assume it'd work fine if you are using it off-camera and have a way to trigger it.

yeah it would be triggered off camera.

Voltage won't matter with a Nikon, they max out at 250v.
