Infrared vs. attached remote release?

I already have an infrared one that came with my camera kit. Since I'm going to be doing a lot of macro shots is it worth it to get an attached one or just continue to use the infrared one. Thanks.
 
See if the infrared one does what you need first.

If the one you have now works, I wouldn't spend more money on something you don't need. Save it for something you can really use more.
 
infra red is good enough, you just have to put your arm over the body a bit and point backward. It wont work if you press it behind the camera.

IR bounces pretty well too, so they could bounce it off something in front of the camera while standing behind it.
