interesting flower

No idea what type it is but it is very beautiful. I like the way these turned out but its not really what I was 'going for'. I was trying to take a photo where the petals on the edge sort of fade into the background. kwim?? If so how do I achieve that? I shot wide open (1.8) and tried both af and mf but couldn't seem to get it how I had envisioned. My first time shooting a flower :mrgreen:
