Definitely a winner.

These type of photographs have such a surreal look to them. Very interesting and slightly mesmerising.

Thank you, everyone!

I'm debating sending an old T3i in to have the IR filter removed for astrophotography. Is that what you have done? Also, I believe there is a filter one can get after this is done that enables the camera to once again shoot conventional images.

No, although I am familiar with the process and the results it can achieve. I would recommend doing it. This was a thirty second exposure using a near-IR pass filter. The built in blocking filter doesn't stop 100% of the IR, so with a filter that blocks everything but IR it is still possible to get images like this. Not only can you use a modified camera for astrophotography, using a filter, like like a Hoya IR-72 etc, you can get these kind of shots without the long exposure time. As for a filter to take normal photos an IR blocking filter would work, but I have never done this and am not sure where you wold get one.

It's what I did with my A7ii (converted to full spectrum) then with a clip in filter that restores normal usage.
Unlike A DSLR mirrorless models frame & focus normally with a visual light blocking filter in front of the lens. However I'm sure I shot more IR with my MFT cameras where I routinely carry one normal & one converted body, so perhaps the expensive clip in filter wasn't such a great approach.
