I can't view 95% of the images while connected to the VPN for work during the day, so often I just have the site open and look for discussions from time to time. I noticed the "ad" posts today. It was annoying until I logged on and they vanished (mostly I think). Maybe if you're not a subscriber, they still appear... I don't know since I SUBSCRIBE and pay for my play.

I can understand what's happening. It is simply a business, plain and simple. Since the number of subscribers are in the heavy shadow of those that are simply members, then revenue has to be brought about somehow. As long as they (admin/owners) can shield those of us who choose to subscribe from the (dare I say it?) spam, why not?

i'm not a subscriber, but i don;t see any ads in threads. I see the usual banners at the top of pages, but that's all. Must have to not be logged in, as you said

agreed I see no difference at all, but I am perminantly logged in (can never remember passwords

) and with only me on this computer no problems.
So it must just be non-members and those not logged in that see them

It's just weird because they were never there before and then today I thought what's the deal. Maybe it is to increase members or profit(which never hurts). It just struck me as odd. Normally things are done below a page or to the right. Never smack right in a thread every other post. It would sure make me want to join.

It's a new form - one forum I am on tried them in the first post for registered members as well - they are all gone now.
I think people are not visiting the ads as much as they used to as there area few new ones around and they are becomming a little more invasive. These are really not too bad - registering loses them.

Another forum I'm on took up I'd say a quarter of the right side of the page, maybe more. Makes it hard to read posts but It's been my home for almost 5 years. I dealt with it. Annoys the hell out of me though.

I'm not seeing anything excessive, but I am running Firefox with the AdBlock Plus plug-in which helps a lot.

I don't see any ads, other than the ones at the top of the page that were always there... (Using Opera right now, if that matters)

Some forums I used to go to a lot had an ad in the second or third post of every thread. Making appear to be a post in the thread was pretty unobstructive; and once you scrolled past it, it was gone.

Asside from the standard compliment of header ads I have seen none. The hearder ads have always been there to my knowledge so I think nothing of them.

I know of those type of ads, they are a pain in the ass I hate'em.

Another PITA ad style is those random text=link things like these

Amen, those are the worst. Especially when they're not just hotlinks, but pop up boxes when you mouse over them.

I haven't noticed anything either here, so it must be a non-logged in phenominon. I'm not opposed to TPF trying to make a profit, though

The ones in that screen cap are just that, I had a cap with one of the popup boxes up but I spliced in the wrong one apparently....:lmao:

I run the same, and never see ads (at home).

What is funny is, I cleared my cookies out last night, then a little later I jumped on the forum. I completely forgot about clearing the cookies, thus clearing my "stay logged on" status. I saw all these ad posts in every thread (though the actual ads were blank from the AdBlock Plus) and was confused as well. I got to the Off-Topic section and saw this thread and promptly opened it. That was the moment I smacked myself in the head and thought "DOH!" realizing I wasn't logged on.
