Chris, that is an amazing, haunting image. Technical virtuosity. Very interesting how you have used the patterns of smoke (incense, I assume) to create shapes and contours which you blended with your model's features. Certainly stomps all over what we usually think a portrait "should" look like. And yet, the two parts you chose to leave unaltered (the eyes and mouth) are the ones that we tend to focus on as the parts that are considered most expressive.

I think it is fantastic. I hope your shoots go well! And that you are thinking about sharing some of your thoughts on color and texture/post processing as part of the TPF article initiative thingy. Hint hint?
