i've banned her before (for posting porn) and the other mods decided to let her come back after she claimed she'd been at work during the time the stuff was posted on her account suggesting that it, therefore, couldn't have ACTUALLY been her. i didn't buy it then and i don't buy it now, but i don't have the final say on these things over there. :-? although, in some ways, i probably should. i won't get into all that though.

the only reason i'm not pulling the plug on her myself is because this is far too personal for me. if she's going to be banned, someone more objective needs to do it. at least, that's how i feel anyway. (figures that i loved my ethics class so much, eh? )

here's a bit of the reaction her comment got (random people so i won't use names, but i'll explain a few of them):

why people have come to idolize this girl, i have NO idea. i guess maybe a lot of people just think she's tough/strong because of how she acts. but there's a difference between being strong and being abusive. i'm disliked by several people over there partly for being a mod and partly for being perceived as a ***** (what can i say? i tell it like it is and people generally don't like that. )... but in my case, i just don't put up with people's sh*t. in HER case, she's the one starting all the sh*t and expecting people to put up with it. and for the most part, the general population over there does just that.

well, i'm currently discussing it with the other mods and i'm certainly making a huge push to have her banned. if they don't want to do it, i'm taking it to the website's owner and seeing if he'll do it. he's generally left this stuff for us to work out on our own though. he basically just codes the site and takes care of the servers and such these days. doesn't really moderate at all unless there's a huge issue to tend to that we other mods can't agree on.

Yeah, internet politics can be a royal pain in the arse. Been there, upset tens of people, bought the t-shirt etc. Just remember, these people can talk behind your back, can post horrible things about you and make you angry, but does it mater what they say? They're just words on a page typed by a twat. Easy to say for someone who isn't involved I know. But it's true.

If she is constantly upsetting people and/or being a (insert four letter word beginning with c and ending in t) then she should have been warning by now. So I'd say it is about time she got banned. You may upset her friends, but who cares? They're just words to, remember. And if they are really upset and kicking up a stink, tactfully remind them of the forum rules (you have some right? Even if you don't, when a users signs up they'll (depending on the software) get a page with some basic rules unless that has been edited) and it is very easy not to click on a bookmark. Her friends may hang around (at least two will, I'll guarantee that) or they may all up and leave. I can't see a problem there.

When you talk to the guy who owns the site make it clear (if this is the case) that new users are reading the forums and not joining because the atmosphere is horrible and they don't want to post with users like that there. There are lots of sites I haven't joined because I've read one or two users post bollocks.

The biggest problem looks to be the others mods though. How are they normally? Do they not like upsetting or offending people normally so don't want to ban her? Or are they her friends? If it's the latter you've got problems.

There is another option to. If you really don't like it and you have friends there. Why don't you all go off and join or create your own forum?

And remember, every time a user posts a message their IP gets logged. You can check to see if someone else has posted instead from a different computer or if someone has logged into an account which isn't theirs by checking the IP logs. If they are being disgusting and offensive report them to their ISP.

Generally ...with bullies .... they dont have much personal strength .... it only takes one person to stand up to them ....to show them up for what they are and normally most other people gratefully come forward and support that first person ( because they've been dyin to show what they really think for awhile but have been too nervous to upset the 'status quo' .....).
