I was the second shooter for a wedding this past weekend. It was a ton of fun and challenging at the same time. It was the first time I've experienced strict rules for photographers in the church (no flash, can't go past the last pew, and staying up in the balcony is preferred). All these limitations definitely threw a kink in the ideas that I'd had for the ceremony, but I it was definitely a learning experience.

Being the second shooter, I tried to capture small details and moments rather than the obligatory shots, which were left up to the primary shooter. It was a lot of fun to be able to experiment with different lighting and settings to get new effects.

Please feel free to offer your CC, I am always open to opinions on how I can improve.

Theo

Top notch man. Good job. About the flash thing, most pros don't use flash anyway at churches.

On my monitor this look a bit too high key for my taste.
#3 - by including the feet but no head, sort of emphasizes the bad cuff job on his pants

Very true, it was definitely good to get some more experience with shooting in the dark like that.

Hm, they look good from here! The processing was supposed to be a bit light and "airy", but I suppose it can vary from monitor to monitor

Very well done!

thanks!

What's with the crops in 2 and 3? If this isn't wrong it bloody well should be.

haha, taking creative liberties on those. i like them very much, i suppose you can't please everyone!

i didn't notice that he looks like a ventriloquist until you pointed it out, and now i can't stop seeing it that way, haha.

I have to agree with Lew, some of the shots look more than a little overexposed. Completely blown, in fact. 3,4,8 and 9 all have whites that are completely clipped. I like the shot of the ventriloquist, tho. Does he do birthday parties? #6 is a nice "mood" shot.

#3 is REALLY scary :D Don't do that, seriously...
However, good job on others :) Like them more or less.

Dude, I am personally a fan and definitely you are heading to the right direction. I like your exposure. I know they are bright, but I know you still have detail on most of it except the obvious part (window behind the cake). Although Im not a fan of the creamish split tone like 1 & 2. I like the color of 3 much better when white is white but you can still feel the warmth.

Great shots. What gear were you using?

thanks for understanding what i was trying to accomplish. many on this forum seem to see the style as a technical error when in fact they came out just how i wanted them to. i agree that it would probably be best to match the whites in the set for continuity though. i enjoy editing wedding photos to match the day so that the feeling is the same for the couple. that day was bright and warm with a lot of sunwash, so i attempted to bring that feel through in the photos.

nice work man.

thanks!

Great shots. What gear were you using?

for this set, i primarily used my nikon d700, 80-200 2.8, 85 1.8 and 50 1.8. I also used my SB 600 and SB 900 for off camera lighting.

great job. I kind of like #3, maybe it's my rebel nature. ;)
