#1 and #2 are pretty good. I'm not feeling abything from #3 and #4.

I'd like #1 a heck of a lot better if you straighten out the photo, and like all your other posts, the focus seems really soft. I'm not sure this is due to the way your saving the file out, or attaching, or something, but none of these are sharp. I really hope that's the case, because #1 is a real winner here (after you straighten it)

The title suggests that this is for a clothing brand? If so, forgetting the technical aspect, I don't really get a good idea of the clothing and certainly wouldn't but it from these photos.

The first one has lovely light all around. the model looks good, the clothes look good.

The second two are way too dark, for fashion at any rate. The clothes and the model's skin kind of blend together, and details are lost. It's moody, though, so, maybe. If they're not about showing off the clothes, but of setting a mood and suggesting lifestyle, maybe.

The last one again has pretty nice light for the model, but the clothes are a little shortchanged again. Black clothes are tough, generally.

Well the thing that gets me is the title of this and the previous images, I mean granted I may be horribly unhip and totally out of the main stream (ok, scratch that, no maybe about it.. lol) but I have no idea who Jon Hellasick is but it's being presented like he is a person of note. Have to admit that's throwing me off quite a bit.

If these shots were meant to emphasis/advertise the clothing as Daniel points out, they really don't. The only one that comes close in that regard would be #4, and you've got some compositional issues there.

Thank You amolitor, but yes it was more about a 'hey, look at this guy wearing the clothes' as opposed to actually showing off the clothing itself.

And yes, I think I probably should sort out a flickr, maybe.

For me any guy wearing any clothes is 'this guy is wearing clothes' (unless of course he isn't

) but there is not enough emphasis on that. As mentioned no4 is the most natural for this but as a ex amateur skateboarder for over 12 years I know there are some far better shots you could get to emphasis that.

The problem here is not that your focus is soft. Your focus is off. If you look at #4, his hand is in very decent focus but he is somewhat out of focus. Its probably more due to the lens you are using. That 70-300 is not a great lens and not really known for tack sharp focusing. Really you should go get you a 50mm f1.8 and youll notice a dramitic increase in the sharpness of your portraits, a 85mm f1.4 or a 135mm f2 would be better for what you are doing here though. Plus given the contrasting elements here of harsh sunlight and very dark clothing and sking tone the contrast in camera probably got a bit throwed off too. But this is about what I would expect given your level of expertise and gear. The photos arent bad but they will never really be great using the gear you have. You need some upgrayedds.
