J'ouvert in Dominica

Hey guys, guess this serves as my introduction since I'm new here so hello. I just recently got my first camera, a Fuji X-E1 with 18-55mm lens. I'm just stopping by to get some feedback on my first attempt at street photography I took a few weeks back during Canaval here in Dominica. Critiques and/or advice is welcome. I'm here to grow and improve. Thanks!

It isn't clear to me what exactly you want me to see in the first picture.
Ditto the second, where in the crowd should I be looking? I can't get the information from the picture (and it is underexposed or made too dark in the conversion. The people's faces are blocked up)
In the third, I see a nice grouping of faces and bodies in the lower right corner, and all the rest of the picture seems irrelevant.

I know this seems to be less than cordial in response to your first posted pictures but you have a good eye and I think you just need to be more in control of your framing and composition to progress.
Just changing pictures into B&W does not give them any more meaning.
In this particular set, there is no Carnival feelings coming across; perhaps the color versions would have given more of that.

I see the drummers, so I get the carnival, but I don't see anybody who looks like they're having a good time. Maybe it's too early in the day, ha-ha.

It was actually pretty early in the day and I definitely should have stayed longer. I ended up missing the more interesting things

Thanks Lew, I appreciate it greatly. The BW was actually not intentional. For some reason all the pics processed in Lightroom from that day were exported in BW and I was too lazy to go back and start over haha. I will definitely work on your suggestions.
