Please post some more shots of Augsburg Fred. I spent 2 1/2 years there when I was in the Army back in the early 60's. I loved that city, easy to get around, nice restaurants, VERY nice Frauleins. I've traveled in Europe many times since then but still would like to visit Augsburg one more time. Thanks for posting.

A little cristism if you allow: technically: it is not quite sharp, at least not on the right hand side. The sky is boring, just white, probably clipping. The lower part is too dark. So a little dodge and burn might help. ANd I don't like the converging lines of the buildings.
composition: I do not quite get, what you would like to tell us. What was your intention with this shot?

I'll pop a fresh roll of film in the camera and do my best to capture something of the character of the town for you over the next few weeks Nod. I have one or two others from the same roll as this photo and will post them in a separate thread. I've lived in the area myself for the better part of a decade, since marrying one of the lovely Fraulines!

Yes, a great help thanks. I tried to work on it a bit in PS but wasn't very happy with the result - the light seemed unnatural. This was taken with Agfa APX iso 100 black and white film and perhaps the range of dark lower to bright upper was beyond the film and camera, itself a simple point and shoot zoom camera (Konika Z-UP 115e). My intention was a simple street-scene shot and the high buildings and converging lines, together with the bend in the path going around the corner was the attraction, I think. Also, there are nearly always people walking by here and I took two or three shots with varying amounts of people in them. This was, for me, the best of the bunch.

For me it seems, you were shooting from a standing point. Maybe next time try to hold the camera in front of your belly or even lower. First the peope don't recognize you were shooting, and second you'll get a more interesting angle. Then you're have converging lines but more extrem, so it does look more tense.
And maybe you come back when you have an overcast sky. Much nicer light... and less contrast.
In PS you could word on grain. Maybe this the picture a more journalist style, if you know what I mean.
BTW I know the corner very well. I used to live there for 5 years. There used to a small Bosna-place. Very good Wurst.
