I like the concept behind this image. It would have had much more impact if the background was all out of focus. A viewer's eye will go to the lightest or darkest part of an image first. In this case it is the sky in the background. I would suggest that if you try to shoot something like this again, then I would not put any sky in the image. I would try and position myself so that there was no sky, only an OOF background of trees or something similar.

completely agree with the above

watch for your bg, look for similar tones, when shooting or alter them in pp, so they don't draw the attention from the subject
